Custom dog bed = happy puppy

Thrilled by the arrival of my Ada and Darcy custom dog bed this week! It brightens up the bedroom beautifully, and it's inspired me to order some bold black and white stripe cushions for the bed from Pillow Throw Decor on Etsy.

Georgia's pretty happy too (these beds are soft). While I was taking these photos, the cat got jealous and started posing on the bedspread. So, for the sake of equity, here's Belle the Ragdoll...

Guest bedroom mini-makeover

We are still a few months away from starting building work in the guest bedroom, but the guests just keep coming! So, I decided on a quick mini-makeover to make the room a bit more hospitable for the time being.

Here is a reminder of the 'before'. With our finances firmly committed elsewhere in the house, I had to manage the makeover with things we already had or could buy cheaply.

I started with this wood-framed pastel I had been given as gift, and had it reframed in ornate silver...

Hurricane lanterns and a hand-carved sandstone lotus bowl helped to finish-off the chest of drawers.

The butterfly paintings we picked up at an art school in India, the linen cushions were 'recycled' from the wingback chairs in the study and the floral cushions were a bargain from Cottage Home Couture on Etsy.

The real work is yet to begin, but at least I don't have to apologise to our guests for the 'ugly' quite so much!

Study inspiration...

Apologies... all's been quiet on the blog front lately. Planting 100 white lavender seedlings may make for a busy long weekend, but it doesn't make for a fabulous blog post. So, rather than show you what we've been doing lately, I thought I'd show you what I've been thinking...

Planning the study, we already have two linen wingback chairs and 'Francaise Conceil' cushions from Provincial Home Living, silver work lamp from Ikea, 'All that Glitters' equine photography from Juliet R Harrison (due to arrive later this month) and a silk handwoven rug purchased in India. Now I'm craving a white 'Manhattan Library' from Town & Country Style, 'Eldridge Pendant' from Ballard Designs, and a roman blind in Cannes Riviera from Blinds Online. Framed vintage maps and a black and white chevron upholstered desk chair should finish the look. If only the budget moved as quickly as the planning...
